Made 48 outdoor grafts since jan 12 /2025 20 cleft and 28 whip & tounge > More clefts than usualy becuse using penncil diam sions on large in ground branches .THEY are breaking buds all over the place !LOOKING realy good !! many of these grafts have there apicale bud and they are unfolding that first leaf .Using gobs of asfault emulsion on the stump and wrapings of cleft grafts realy pays off !! holds in mosture and the black surface pulls in heat from the sun to speed up growth !

Congrats on the grafting!

We had to relocate a bunch of inground trees this winter. Leaving us with a bunch of nice thick root segments. So as a trial we grafted one node pieces to the top of a 6-9 inch root segments. They all look great so far can’t wait to see the final results. This means now one cutting gets us 4 plants.

ONE NODE CUTTING WORK GOOD AND I LIKE WAY BETTER THAN BUD PATCH GRAFTS .

YE
All our attempts at patch bidding have failed.
One nice healthy node grafts( whip and tongue, cleft, wedge) do much better.
We haven’t gotten the hang of 4 flap grafts either. @rnexus has a great deal of success with them.
YEA done a few "bannana grafts "= 4 flap ? some years ago ,some even with double pointed nail down the middle ,they worked but not worth the trouble .

I’m excited to get grafting this year. I’m going to try several types to get a feel for what I like best. I’m loving the idea of bud grafting. The idea of putting a branch wherever I want is pretty cool
