You can usually find Espoma Plant Tone for just over $1/lb for the 36lb bags in the off-season. I use just over a bag per season to fertilize vegetable garden, fig trees, ornamentals and occasionally blackberries.

Now that is beyond ridiculous.

My local Home Depot finally has the 27lb bags of Garden Tone in stock for $30. I’ll be picking up a few bags this weekend for next season. The bio-tone microbes have a “best used by” date on the side of bag, so keep that in mind if purchasing at end of season. The Plant Tone I am currently using has a “best used by” date of March 2030.
