Fuzzy Nectarines?

Probably a stupid question, but here it goes: Are baby nectarine fruits fuzzy?

I have 4 "nectarine" trees that I planted 2 years ago. These are my 1st ever "nectarine" trees. They've fruited for the 1st time this year. I noticed when the fruit set that they were all fuzzy on all 4 trees. I assumed that the fuzz would go away as they grew, but they're about golf ball sized now and still fuzzy. I'm now thinking that the nursery sold me peaches and not nectarines.

Anyone have any experience with nectarines that can comment?

My trees are not fuzzy but a nectarine is a peach and a peach is a nectarine. One or the other can come from the seed of a peach tree. I have never heard that a nectarine could revert to a peach.
I have about 20 peaches but for nectarines I have Artic star, Fantasia, Raspberry Red. I would be curios where you got them and what varieties they are?

I watched a video just yesterday that said nectarines were smooth and did not have the fuzz like peaches. I would be inclined to think you have a peach as well.

I have 2 that are supposed to be Ruby Grand nectarines and 2 that are supposed to be Sun Gold nectarines. I got them from tytyga.com in 2023.

Well TyTy might be the problem, they have a reputation of mixing up trees. However I would send them pictures and message them.

If it was one tree I might suspect a rootstock had taken over, but on all 4 of the same type. I think those are peaches.

I would think they would make good and replace the trees but with so much time invested that a bit of a bummer. Maybe you can enjoy some peaches while replacements mature?

Hello @MattK it's so good to see you posting, even though it's probably a bit too late to call you. I'm always so happy to see you here. All my nectarines, and peaches are the very low chill hours that are necessary, if they're going to bare fruit in Los Angeles.
