That’s a Haboob. A giant sand storm that occurs in the desert regions.

We are ok, yesterday as I got home from work it hit really fast, had to call rest of my family who were out and told them not to drive, Thank God none of the were on the road. As far as property will find out today as it still dark here and actually I am not going to look until I get back from work but most importantly my home roof still intact
. I know my trees are battered, just hoping my fig tree didnt get damaged to bad

We get few every summer but not close to this strength, last time we had it this crazy was 3 years ago

That is all types of crazy!
Well at least you get some kind of free fertilizer - I read that sand carries alot of minerals that plants can use and really helps in nutritionally deficient soil.

Reminds me of the 1930’s decade dubbed “The Dirty 30’s”. Did anyone see the documentary on the history channel called “Black Blizzard”? It aired in 2006 about the worst dust storm in history called Black Sunday that occurred Sunday April 14th 1935. An excellent documentary. Wis it was on YouTube.
