Hey all,
I just joined this board in October, and I am a big fan. I appreciate those who started it and those who make this board a fun one to spend time on via their involvement, sharing their knowledge, etc.
To show my gratitude I’d like to do a little giveaway for the holidays. I just took a bunch of cuttings from a new fig friends in ground trees and want to share some of them. There are three cultivars; LSU Purple, Brunswick, and Larchwood Unk. I have scrubbed, sanitized ( soaked in 10:1 water to bleach solution for 3 mins), and sealed the cut ends with wax. I am happy to give the winner 10 cuttings of their choosing from this batch(shipping is on me).
To enter just guess how many times I have see the band Phish. Price is right rules, closest with out going over gets the cuttings.
I will close the contest on Christmas Eve at noon est to give folks a chance to enter who may not be daily visitors to the site.
Since it’s an unk and there isn’t much info online I’ll share what I know on the Larchwood unk. The Larchwood Unk is an Adriatic. The mother tree was found on Larchwood ave in Philadelphia Pa and does well unprotected in the area from what I understand. This fig is the favorite of my new fig friend who let me come over and collect the cuttings . Info was given to me by the person I got the cuttings from and from POP ( Philadelphia orchard project https://www.phillyorchards.org/2024/03/06/plants-of-the-pop-learning-orchard-fig-cultivars/ )
