Figcuttings.com : True to Type ?

Hello,

Has anyone bought bought cuttings from James at Figcuttings.com? Are they generally true to type ?

P.S.: Read all the negative reviews about the delayed shipping and refund issues. But I'm checking if you have bought cuttings from him and if they have fruited and true to type ?

I've bought cuttings from them. This is my first year so dont know if the varieties are true to type. I've bought the cuttings late in the season and there were mold on a few of them. But Im not very particular when the cuttings are discounted so its a gamble.

You definitely need to be aware of the time frame you're purchasing in.
Also keeping in mind the region they are coming from due to different dormancy times.
So some situations may not be completely on the seller.
I have never purchased from that place though.

I bought from them a couple years ago. I had one variety that I suspected was not true. I tried multiple times to contact them to sort it out and never got a response on the issue. I never have a problem getting a response when I had money in my hand for them.

Since your in Texas why not try Little Bexar Farm, located in Texas too. He puts out some nice fig video's on YT.

I like buying from people that contribute to the community, whether it be producing content like YouTube videos, or conducting detailed observations and sharing those insights and also forum members that engage in the topics and conversations.

I’ve only bought cuttings from Off The Beaten Path Nursery. @Bigbill is a great guy and a member of the forum. Check out his videos on YouTube. @Harvey also a member has great cutting sales usually in January not sure if he’ll do another one this year. It would be great if he would do just one more. Tinkerbugfigs is another good seller.

There’s lots of forum members that sell on forbid, 387Pete is another one that comes to mind—I tried purchasing it might have been a Crozes but got lost in shipping—he reimbursed me without me even asking—no questions asked. Good guy.

Yea Big Bill is a great guy and most of mine came from OTBP

I think it’s NJfigs that has a lot of nice unks—good descriptios

So many great options no reason to risk going with someone that’s not familiar with members of the forum. Or the forum itself!
