Fig pen in use

Well it isn't exactly how I wanted it, but given my short time frame, the weather, and the little jack *** that is raiding my trees...I had to act fast every day I got home from work.

I must have used about 500+ zip ties. lol

Threw a few of the medium size trees in there that had ripening figs on them.

I am wore out.

Today when I got home I pulled at least 15 figs he ate half of then went on to other....at least eat the damn whole fig! lol

That’s a GREAT JOB! We’ve all been waiting as long as you to see it finished. From your post that fig pen has more zip ties than Carter has pills. .

I feel ya man. They take a nibble and leave Unless it is my Capri. Many of those they run off with.

I finally had to throw tulle fabric over one of my trees tonight - two near ripened figs were pecked and eaten by birds.

Haven’t heard anyone use that expression besides my father. Only difference he said “liver pills”

I pulled at least 6 figs that he bit on to see if it was ripe, nope...leave little teeth marks all over them and move on to some other better figs.
He has eaten all my Dalmatie!

I’ve had a Dalmatie and a Pelligrino pretty much the same fig and it was my experience that they were very stingy varieties so when animals and birds are pecking on them you aren’t going to have many left for you to eat.

I'm going to check it in the morning, to see if the critters attempted to infiltrate it. lol
I removed all figs that he might be tempted to get at outside....so this should be interesting. lol

Nice, Kevin! I know you said it was on a short time frame, but it actually looks very good. Great idea with the cinder blocks. I was thinking of making something like this for BFF, if it were to hit Fresno. What did you use for the frame? PVC or metal?

You know, I heard a famous gardener say that if you are having critter problems, that is indicative of a lead defficiency

These trees didn't pay @ktrain the protection money they owed.... they're alone, on the outside



Stupid SOB squirrels. I was having my coffee this morning and saw them tearing up all my beans that I planted last week. I had to net things up again...
