I will be in Anaheim/Los Angeles, CA during our spring break that we have here in Czech Republic. The spring break is from 9th to 15th of March, but I will be there from 5th of March. Are there any fig enthusiasts from that area that would like to hang out, show me their trees (and give cuttings, LOL :D it's probably too late on that) and maybe go on a hike? I guess there must be a lot of fig trees growers in California. I also plan to look for wild seedlings around or in Los Angeles.

Too bad that I’m in NorCal. Enjoy fig hunting. There are too many wild fig trees there.

I would love to get together, but I live on the opposite coast, in PA.

I would suggest, however, checking out some west coast group on Facebook in anticipation of your trip.

They have some very active in person cutting and fig groups there.

Have an awesome spring break!

@oat @BucksCountyFigs do you know where exactly Brian Melton lives? I haven't found his address on his website, maybe I will have to write to him, but I thought he is from the LA area. I know Harvey is more up North.

But thank you for the tip! I will try to find some groups on facebook.

I believe Brian is in Fresno, a bit far from Anaheim. There are many growers in the LA area. I used to live there. You can visit Laguna Hill nursery, which is about 15 mins drive from Anaheim.

It's a long trip to Fresno from Anaheim but if you go up there to ProFig, you should see Yosemite, if you've never been there. It's not too far from Fresno.

Harvey is in the Sacramento River delta. Brian is in Fresno. It’s a drive from Anaheim area. Yosemite is a long drive too, and might be inaccessible depending on the storms at that time. California is a big state lol. Give us that high speed trains already 🤣

It's not the best time of the year, as you can not sample any fruit to make a judgement, but some of the canyons around Santa Barbara, CA are a true wild seedlings hunting ground!

As for a hike: drive up to the Griffith observatory, enjoy the view (and the beautiful building itself) and do the short hike to the back of the Hollywood sign. Always good for nice photos!

If you want to hike in the mountains and it's not a super long drive from Anaheim, check out the area around Big Bear lake. If you decide to go into the mountains check weather reports and road conditions. In March snow skiing might be more of an option than hiking at Big Bear. The snow skiing is good there. I've went skiing there several times.
