Euclid fig

Mother tree had Zer0 fruit on it. Zero!!! Just branches and leaves. Grabbed some cuttings to grow out but I'm not seeing much of anything to get excited about. Time will tell....

I thought the Euclid mother tree was cut down. Are you referring to a different tree / variety?

I would prob say the mother was destroyed to keep people away, too!! ;)
Things are said, words are taken out of context, interweb distorts, and -5 degree Temps occasionally cause complete dieback. Somebody also stated the tree was near a hydrant and possibly cut back for utility work or access. Regardless what the truth is, when you do a virtual street driveby of euclid I see 2 figs. The larger was definitely an Adriatic so I went to see that tree.... don't worry the mother tree is still intact, if that IS it, and you won't see me selling any cuttings. No trouble here my friends :)

July 2025 has the tree showing as described on google street view. I’d imagine she wouldn’t won’t to be bothered constantly or have her tree chopped to pieces one night. Being Asheville it’s totally possible it died to the ground as mentioned too.

In one of Lee Gaines vids, he said the tree was chopped down but maybe he wanted to make it extra special.
I could see how a contractor hired to cut the tree down might not know the difficulty of actually killing the tree....A large fig tree is not something you just cut down. It will come back with a vengeance. I doubt Lee Gaines is lying. He named it after the street it was found. If he wanted to be deceptive he could have given it another name and lied about the details of where it was found.

Good point. City or someone might have come and cut it since near fire hydrant. I don’t think Lee would lie either. He seems to be a good guy.

I've bought several other trees from him and the Euclid tree was a gift from him for me to trial. I will have to re-watch the video but it seems he doesn't have anymore cuttings for sale on his website.

Still ripening figs from in ground tree that was planted in late Aug/early Sept. Correction. It was planted on 5.26.25.

Just picked my first Euclid UNK off a first year tree.
I'm not calling it something else yet. Anyone else have an Adriatic type growing and fruiting unprotected in Western North Carolina?
I've got about 80 different Adriatic types to compare it to in the coming years. View attachment 13127View attachment 13128View attachment 13129View attachment 13128

Holy mackerel, 80 adriatics?
THAT IS AWESOME!!!!

My friend who is a fruit farmer, LOVES adriatics. He lives very far north in NY. Would you recommend any in particular? He has high hoop houses for early starts and for finishing.
