Oh... this takes time... be gentle with the heat and stir a lot. The sort of thing you do when the weather's getting cooler and you don't mind hanging out inside for the afternoon.

Will Find out! Kids are very excited to use for all sorts of things. Multiple trays for me
Means the kids can each have one or two trays each to themselves. Sometimes higher upfront expense is worth the sanity when dealing with the kids.

Not that they're all the same... I had a round plastic one. One day the trays just melted on me. No idea how it got that hot. Then I got worried about what the plastic may have released when heated. I ended up getting a stainless one. Not crazy expensive. Works well. Easy to use

I love my dehydrator. I use it for figs... but also much more. Herbs, peppers, onions.... even jerky

One day I hope to really take the plunge and get a freeze dryer. That's next level.... but much more of an investment.

I've been reading that you have to first prepare the figs in sulfuric acid prior to drying them. Do you do this? Could you explain your process?
