Cuvert is such a beautiful tree. The growing form is perfect. These pictures can't capture how majestic it really it. I dont have the heart to cut up my 2 trees. I'll just take some tips each year.

It's very productive. Reminds me alot of ondata in many ways. I ripened some figs late last year. No comment on flavor yet. It didn't stand out, but ripening conditions were sub par to say the least.

Its producing figs on last year's wood right now. As well as lots of figs on this year's wood.

At the base of the tree there are lots of double leaf buds. They have been there for a year. Vertly sharp and spikey. I think I've only seen this before on Dolca.

Do you have Cuvert planted in the ground to test the cold hardiness claims?

Item Description

Cuvert is a recent discovered by REDACTED™ in Entre-deux-Mers, France. The tree produces a large dark purple or almost black fig with a very special and rare feature: the skin around the ostiole remains green in the majority of cases. The ruby-red interior has consistently been sweet and firm. The tree is believed to be very hardy because the mother tree branches froze in April and continued to produce figs the same year. It may also indicate that the fruits would be larger in a normal situation. It is a very good variety for production: very fertile, very good branching (3 or 4 new branches if the terminal bud is cut in the spring), fruits of good taste quality, a nice pulp, and being very resistant. REDACTED™ believes this fig has "a bright future"!

I'm not sure the description is describing the cold hardy quality we are all familiar with. Its saying the branches froze in the spring. It doesn't say if they died.

If the branches didn't die, there could have been a micro climate around the tree protecting them. If the branches did die, and then new growth occurred, I dont think that is significant.

My point is I dont think that description tells us much of anything. I might do a cold test with a properly hardened tree in 2 or 3 years

Agreed,
Its a claim to be tested , was my point
