Cold’s A Coming

Monday should be the first frost here by Lake Ontario. Says -4 (25F). Really I can't complain... For anywhere in Canada on December 1. Daytimes will be just above freezing though.... Yup Winter's coming.... Time to hide in the basement with my cured meats and some vino.

I have to pay the price for so many potted trees this weekend. We’re dropping to 22F a week from today so I’ll be moving my trees into the garage this weekend. So happy that I have a cart and patient husband to help!

I’m hoping more leaves fall off by then. If the leaves don’t fall off, would you leave them outside till they do? It’s been really warm this fall, and they haven’t had much chance to gradually get used to the cold. They should have 2 nights of 25-26F this week before I take them in.

Oh wow, a patient husband ah,
You deserve 5 stars for having one of those. A very rare gem. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I love your yard!

Going that low it might be best to let the leaves drop in the garage..... I know, it's a mess but it'll keep you from taking too much damage

Our cold weather is coming in on Saturday here in SC. After working in the garden in short sleeves today....we will be getting down to the mid 20s for a week. Most of our trees are still outside with leaves.

I have a feeling this will be a harsh winter.
Last winter we had it real easy in New England when temperatures never dropped below 10 degrees Fahrenheit in January & February 2024.
Compare that to January 2018 and February 2023 when temps dropped to -13 and -11 degrees 🥶

Based on the NOAA long range forecasts, after the cold coming across the east in early December moves out, the weather is either at or above normal temperature ranges the rest of the way. Hopefully it proves to be accurate.
