The giveaways of up to 5 cultivars of unknown Portuguese heirloom fig cuttings would not be possible without the DeAngelo family allowing FigVicious and I to prune their inground trees and to take the resulting cuttings to share across the country through the FF membership.
THE GAME: HOLIDAY MEMBERSHIP TREASURE HUNT
Since the unknown cuttings being offered are of Portuguese origin, simply post the following phrase: “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays” to another forum member within this game’s thread for the win, but it must be posted in Portuguese. Please address the member by both their forum name and their actual first name (for example, “to Opiem10, Opie, I wish you and your family Feliz Natal e Boas Festas)”.
A) A member’s forum name and first name may only be used one time. First come, first served. For example, if someone offers holiday greetings to Opiem10, no other member may subsequently offer a winning greeting to any other member named Opie (BTW, not my real first name)
B) Since a first name may be used only one time, it becomes more challenging as more winning posts are created. Enjoy the challenge of finding and sharing the first names of our fellow fig fanatics.
C) You may not offer winning greetings to a member if their first name appears to be part of their forum name (for example superdave336, Ben, TorontoJoe, Goodfriendmike, etc). Apologies to those members, but that would be too easy. But you can offer qualifying greetings to another member with a first name of Joe, Ben, Dave, Mike, etc., but only one time for the entire game (see rule A.).
D) Former SFF members may not participate as they will receive cuttings outside of this game, but other members may wish them holiday greetings, in order to secure a “win”.
Initially, we’ll target 20 packages of cuttings to go out to the first 20 winners. Again, this will be done in the order successful greetings were posted. Each package is scheduled to include 3 cuttings of variety #1, 2 cuttings of variety #2, 3 cuttings of variety #3, 4 cuttings of variety #4, and 1 cutting of variety #5. If a winning member wants less cuttings or certain thicknesses, reach out and I will attempt to accommodate. After the initial round of packages go out, the inventory will be re-evaluated and additional packages may be prepared for distribution.
E) Winners are requested to pay a flat shipping fee of $10 for the package of cuttings.
Be quick and have fun finding out a bit more about your fellow and possibly unknown FF members! If you are very successful rooting these cuttings, please share your bounty with other members we may not have been able to gift this year.
