Carrillo Unk caught my eye - looked fantastic,

That led to an interesting public discussion on Facebook (What the Fig group) with the original "discoverer" and another collector. The emerging theory: Carrillo Unk may be identical to White Adriatic, based on fruit, leaves, and overall growth habit.

Curious if anyone here is growing both and your observation?

I have Carrillo Unk Ive been growing it for a few seasons, I can trace the cutting that produced my tree back to the initial Figbid listings in 2021.
I dont have or have had White Adriatic.
I feel like grouping Carrillo unk into the Adriatic family is a huge stretch, to be polite. Carrillo fruits are huge; 70-100 grams that's 2 or 3x bigger than any of the other 50 plus Adriatics I have fruiting. Flavor is much sweeter and syrupier in Carrillo than any other Adriatic that I have. Maybe its because I don't have White Adriatic or Is White Adriatic a misrepresented variety? Also Carrillo vegetatively grows fairly thick and I cant put that trait to any of my other Adriatics.

The question I have, Who is Hedgehog6 on Figbid? Is that Amy K? Did Amy find the tree or did she recognize its appeal and the owner Hedgehog6 start selling it from that point?

Can you provide a link to the specific conversation of FB?

@Dfoster25 is growing Carrillo UNK I'm curious to hear his observations.

Oh my, your statement of “Flavor is much sweeter and syrupier in Carrillo than any other Adriatic that I have.” really catches my attention, because I love Adriatics, and if Carrillo is even better…

@Figsee

Is there any downside to Carillo, like a big open eye, doesn’t do well with humidity etc.?
I couldn’t find much about it online.

@DCallahan Sending DM with link to the conversation. Not posting on this thread as per Mike’s pointer.

Any leaf photos of Carillo unk to put under the scope & analyze? Adriatic leaves trend pretty uniform in their shape. Pretty easy to distinguish...
