So I pollinated a few figs (Panache, Hardy Chicago, VdB, Marseilles) earlier this year with Enderub pollen mostly by the sugar water/syringe method. Aside from 4 figs that aborted (HC, Panache), there have been no noticeable changes except for the Marseilles figs where all injected figs have noticeably swollen, softened and appear to be nearly ripe now, at the end of July. If they are really ripening, this would be very early for a main crop here.
The small dark green are uncaprified while the yellow green check marked (most visible) are caprified. Did I just somehow not caprify the other varieties (although I used the same syringe load and other methods)? Why are caprified Marseilles ripening at least a month early?
