Local WHOLE FOODS MARKET selling KADOTA and BLACK MISSION figs in baskets 8-10 figs for $7.99 a pound . MISSION'S under ripe but KADOTA not bad ! A little bit of honey spots, soft, with juicy amber pulp ,needed another day but still a 7.5 , very tight eye and a little rounder than the strain at my orchard . from the interior valley a few weeks ahead of my coastal micro climate .Rare to find passable figs in a super market ! Some times TRADER JOE sells some PANACHE /TIGER FIGS that have one or two ripeish figs per container . JUST starting to get a couple varieties to rippen main crop here ! BROWN SUGAR CRUNCH and WHITE MARSELAS . FIGS droping like rain from BFF ! When all is said and done i set a 1000 + figs to eat 100 ! The BFF war continues ! Folks from the area walk by in the evening and stop and ask about the trees ? Invariably they say they have a tree but all the figs drop off and they wonder why ? I give them the READERS DIGEST BFF story ,so sad .

The Whole Foods here gets mixed containers of California figs every year. Some way under ripe. But others not bad at all. Seeds are viable so they have been pollinated. Didn’t keep any of those seedlings. I just wanted to see it they would sprout. :)

My wife seen some for sale here in Georgia once, at Publix I think.
But she didn't get them.
I suppose out of curiosity i would have. Lol
That sucks about the dropping...for every good aspect of figs there are an equal number of detrimental critters.
But we fight the good fight.

I used to get panache or mission from trader Joe's in SoCal. They can be ripe and start leaking and falling apart. I always pick the most sticky pot, which can be pretty good.

Not sure about fig sales around here. Haven't seen it yet.
