Backyard Fruit Growers will be holding their annual grafting workshop on March 22nd at Mt Wilson Church of The Brethren in Lebanon, PA 170429 (GPS address 1261 Mt Wilson Rd, Lebanon, PA 17042) from 10 am to 4 pm.

At this event, you can select free scions donated by BYFG members (mostly apple and pear, but some pawpaw, fig, mulberry scion) and purchase reasonably priced rootstock. If you know how to graft already, you're welcome to hangout with the friendly members and graft right there. If you'd like help learning, there are BYFG members available to help you.

If you're grafting at the workshop, don't forget to bring all your supplies like your grafting knife, black sharpie for labelling varieties, buddy tape, and something to keep your rootstock roots moist until you get home (wet newspaper, 5-gallon bucket, etc).

This event is for BYFG members, and a membership form is available here: https://www.byfg.org/2017BYFGBrochure.pdf BYFG membership is only $15 for 2 years, and includes a newsletter, informative workshops, apple and pawpaw tastings throughout the year.

Saw a new Flyer this evening on their FB page. It stated that the grafting workshop was limited to 25 people. I am guessing it will sell out so get your reservation in. There were definitely more then 25 people at the morning sessions of the winter workshop this past Saturday.

Hi @DCallahan , the 25 person limit is for the non-members session (aka the public session) that starts at 1 pm. They limit the public session because they want to make sure they have enough grafting tutors for attendees and they do an intro presentation 1st.

The member session (Friends or newsletter subscribers) that starts at 10 am can accept more than 25 people. Because access to the scions is first come, first served, the best selection is at the 10 am member session. The member session is also free (included in 2-yr membership along with newsletter, pawpaw and apple tastings, etc) except you purchase your own rootstock if needed. It makes more financial sense to buy a membership than pay $30 for the non-member grafting workshop only. Members can stay and hangout during the non-member session if they wish, but most leave by lunch.

I recommend joining BYFG here: https://www.byfg.org/2017BYFGBrochure.pdf
