Biggest One Of The Season

It was only 39 grams but the largest ones up until now were 35 grams. These are VdB and a Violeta that I picked a little bit early because it was splitting. I still haven't had a really big fig yet. I have these varieties that haven't swelled yet, EBT, Strawberry Verte, I-258, CDD Roja, Schar Israel, and more Violeta but I don't know if they will ripen in time. Then there are the trees that are trying to produce a 2nd crop. LSU Purple, Celeste, and Green Ischia. I'm pretty sure those ones won't.

How old is the tree?
I bought a large tree in a 5 gallon pot last Spring or so. I just it in ground and it seemed to have focused on roots and mass since we only got tiny figs. It got huge. I was able to make 3 trees out of it last Winter since we moved. This year, no fruit, because of them recovering.

When my BM splits, I just put a tape on it and it'll continue to ripen. I may need to pick it just a bit early.

The fruits would get bigger as the trees become more established.
Thanks for that tip. I will do that next time. Good news, I saw the weather report and our temps are supposed to stay in 80's for the highs and 60's for the lows, but some rain. I can move them onto the patio if it rains.

Yep, medical tape is breathable. I just used masking tape because that was what I had at the time. I don't tape the opening completely shut so that the opening edge tends to be dry but also less likely to mold.

Split figs and ripe figs would attract critters but I have a habit of moving the trees inside at night or boxing the figs with clamshells so that seemed to keep the loss at a minimum.
