Traits are inherited from both parents. Consequently, any traits you desire in offspring need to be present in both parents. This is usually obtained by recursively crossing a desirable female with a Caprifig until obtaining a Caprifig that dominantly displays those traits.
An exception to this exists for traits that are dominant. For example, black-skinned usually dominates over green-skinned. So if you desire that trait there is no need to reinforce it in both parents.

Is there a place anywhere that lists the popular persistent Caprifigs by traits
So far I am going by the fact that Millenial Gardener crossed a few with Saleeb and got a few edible figs within 2-3 years that he claims are good and which appear to be promising as he is eating them .. I think about 5 of them fruited as fast and still waiting on something like 30 more
But let's say my dwarf.. they are good but difficult to ripen properly.. a touch of rain and poof just plain figs ... and the eye somewhat open... I would want similar flavor but with a close eye, maybe a bigger fig on a plant that holds some dwarf qualities ... and retaining the strawberry note that isn't exactly a fruity strawberry but more like a confectionary pink strawberry flavor like pink strawberry filling
And so how do I know if a male makes strawberry figs? Is there a male Adriatic type or even a dark skinned fig with excellent genea... so far i can only get to a few that blow me way from the dwarf .. most have been diluted much by rain
@ one ive been thinking about pollinating
Also in know offspring can vary alot... Peters Honey has an excellent Honey Flavor. Would love to cross with a Berry flavored male that's up there with a Bordeaux or Hardy Chicago and to get a Honey Berry that performs like an everbearing and grows in clusters
And to preferably end up with Dark skinned Honey Berry or even Berry Honey like LSU Gold.. so far I've had the most issues with yellow figs trying to swell and ripen within its very hot they get scorched.. a small percentage coast through it.. (reminds me of one of the I258 NOT that turned out to be a yellow crinkly Honey Fig that ripened mid summer like a champ but with skin that falls apart if you touch it. So the skin color of the fig might matter here but either way I guess
A dark skinned Honey Berry on a Clustering Everbearing. Something to aim for ...
If there is a known Dark Berry type male or maybe even a Madeira male... Cdd Male...those are the words in the back of my head..
Cdd Rimada as a Female has handled rain and the skin doesn't turn to leather like Panache.. also doesn't seem to split at all .. if only there were a male.. maybe worth crossing with a Persistent Male so as to create a cdd like male not that other CDD wouldn't work but it's my fasted potted one besides Mutante to come into production
