Anyone growing pomegranates?

Wow, from Edgar Valdivia. I love his dragon fruit videos.

I only have a white variety and of course the Wonderful. I can't wait to see the Wonderful fruit. Hopefully this year. 🤞🤞

Where is the best place to learn about pomegranate and the various varieties? Have always wanted to have some, but never knew enough to be able to adequately choose one to grow.

Are poms generally known for doing well in pots?

I have sirenyevi, 2 azadi, 1 wonderful. And 1 unknown volunteer. Salavatski is on my list, I'd really like chernaya Rosa and a white variety as well at some point.

I'm planning to grow some as fruiting hedges! And stealthily chop down the lame bushes we've got...I don't think my husband will notice 🥸

I have Kashmir, Afganski and Kikitski Ranni growing in pots and they do very well. I got the Kashmir in 2021 as a pretty small bush and it flowered for the first time in 2024, but none of the flowers produced fruit. The other two are younger but growing well.

Anyone know if these varieties will survive in ground without protection in Zone 7a? In the last 3 winters, we had one year that the low got down to minus 8 Fahrenheit and two winters in the single digits. Just not sure how cold hardy these are. I guess I may need to make back up cuttings and just take the plunge and see how they do. As with most trees and bushes, I have a feeling that if they can survive in ground, they would do much better than in a pot.
