As my figs started to ripen, I see a lot of ants on the tree. Whats some of the effectives ways to stop them? Or can they be stopped? for some reason I haven’t had to deal with this problem in the past

Is there a trail?
If you can tell where they're coming from you can do the sugar and borax mix near the hole.

I haven’t looked yesterday because was getting dark, I only noticed them when I picked a rip fig and couple of them started coming from inside the eye but will look today. BTW: I still ate the fig after I washed the ants off 😀

Lol...I would have too!
They aren't going to stop me from eating figs. :)

I get a lot of the really tiny ants...some call them sugar ants.
Is it because they taste like sugar?...Hm :p

No way after waiting months for figs to ripen will let ants take my yum yum plus if I happen to eat one or two ants well, adding a little protein to sugar is not bad 🤪

I don't think organza bags work very well stopping ants. They usually circle around for a while and manage to find at least one entry point.

I typically use borate bait, DE. The figs with drops of honey that seal the eye do escape from the ants. I am trying to think if there is something similar but edible to put on those without honey.

I dealt with this last year trying non toxic methods like borax bait traps and organza bags. Nothing seemed to work.
This year one application of cheap Sevin dust around the base of the tree and no more ants

Well, I am going to add this one as well, which ever works would be great. Thanks for the recommendation!
