A very welcomed surprise today

Back in March I set an air layer on my OC Celeste that I planned on gifting to a friend. A little while later the branch broke off in a wind storm. I sniped it off and put it on a shelf in the laundry room and forgot about it. Last Saturday when I put my newly potted cuttings in the tote container with a heating pad I found the air layer and it it still scratched green so I put it inside the container also. Well look at it this morning, a new shoot is emerging. It's a good thing to because it looks like the mother tree is possibly dead there's not one spot that scratches green.

An awesome sight to see.
I have a few like that I was going to post some pics, but it's pouring rain here.

Okay, us too here in PA. Everyone I know with figs in my area are having issues this year even some of the guys that covered their figs. Either winter damage, and believe it or not lots of rodent damage with the covered figs! Last year was a really bad rodent/vole issues, now lots of fig damage over the winter. It was too cold and not enough snow, barely any snow.

Sad to sad the OC Celeste mother tree is dead along with 5 others. So 6 trees hit the compost heap today. That makes 8 total in the heap. 3 left on their last leg. I’ll be buying a replacement LSU Tiger tonight from big bill if they don’t sell out in a second plus I have 5 beautiful cuttings from @Figless God bless him for sending them to me. Greg I’m so glad to have them, had no idea my trees were not going to survive.

These are the only 3 on my list that are trying very hard to survive. The ones in the pots are dead

Tree's of Joy has just about 3 pages of figs for sale and Kremp Florist (Philly metro area) has 77 available on their Web site if your purchase through Big Bill doesn't pan out. Big Bill is a great guy! And I met Bass from Tree's of Joy another good guy.
