A Resurrection!

Guys! I’m so amazed at how resilient figs are! This one “croaked” on me this last spring. I just never pulled it out from the group, so it continued to get water.

Look what I saw yesterday! It’s alive!

The entire top is dead, but I guess it still had a viable bud at the bottom. I’m glad I didn’t trash it because I really wanted this one.

Talk about a miracle! About 8 months with zero signs of life. 😲

And then there was life. I love it when they come back.

Right?! It’s so cool!
If only they would all do that. I have one I am still waiting to come back. The roots still look good. But the tree is dead to the base. That is why I now try to keep doubles of my harder to find ones.

Well, hang on to it for as long as you care to. You never know! I have another one I also thought had died that also came back from the roots, it just did it much faster than this one.

I brought a small seedling with me here. Tiny thing, and it died in the pot and came back, I took it outside early in Spring and it got hit by a frost and died and came back.

My Nefiach on the other hand died in the pot, then it popped out some growth and then died for real.

I've had that happen in spring... They look great coming out of storage... start to grow, then get all bronze coloured.... then they croak.

Seedlings are a thing unto themselves. They seem super hardy sometimes compared to cuttings.

Bummer about Nefiach.

It just really didn't like it here or something. Were you successful with it? I think Eric and Evan had problems with theirs...could be a prima donna variety.

I have one like that, so glad it pulled through.

On a side note, I spent about 2 hours pulling weeds from my pots today. I had mostly cloves growing in mine from some free sand I added for drainage. I won’t do that again.

I think I was successful, but I need to go out and verify. 😅

I know I was with Inchario Preto…

Weed pulling is a pain in the bootie to saythe least. Don’t envy you that!
