2” cutting experiment

I had to cut 2” off the end of a cutting too long to fit inside the gallon ziplock. Whether for fig obsession or just for fun, I decided to see if it would grow. There is 1” in dirt with one node. 2 weeks and it is breaking bud. :)

That's great! And first year rooting figs too! Congrats!
Welcome to the fig addiction! I was given a Brown Turkey fig plant that I just stuck in the backyard without knowing anything about how to grow them. Didn’t think I needed to know since a friend in Texas had one and never did anything to help hers other than water - it was always loaded with figs. But, I also thought that was the only kind of fig…. Hahaha! Kept wondering why mine didn’t produce like hers or why it died back every year. (I’m in Oklahoma-different growing zone.) Then I was given a Celeste, found a local fig group, then this group and my world went nova!

I rooted some pieces today I was using for grafting. It had about half of the node left on it, we see if it roots and another node develops. If not, I was just gonna trash it anyways. If not, I have another castagnat and blanquella 🤣
