1 Month into Round 2

Well… we’re a little over 1 month into round 2 of my fig cutting rooting journey. Round 1… we don’t have to talk about round 1. But I did learn a lot from the failures that came from the first go around. This time, I’m using a lighter, more porous mix. Porous? Not sure if that’s the right word. Good ol’ Pro Mix HP. I also didn’t saturate the mix as much to start out. So far so good. It’s killing me not knowing if there are any roots forming yet. I gave the LSU Tiger that has started to leaf out in the middle a little tug. There was 0 give. So I think that’s a good sign? I’m just hoping to have at least 1 cutting survive to the Spring. Almost there

I had it on until leaves started to push out. Want to try to limit the high humidity transition as much as possible.

It those leaves are still healthy and growing after 3 weeks I’d say it’s a good chance there is roots. So hang in there good buddy.

You could leave that lid on for a while longer, but since you took off the lid already, I would highly suggest you parafilm your other fig pops, to prevent dehydration and help them get through their critical stage.

Sheesh...I have lots of failures my first year rooting, good thing was I bought a bunch of cheap cuttings.
Mostly Celeste.
By yr two...I was rockin it.

Just figure the first year is R&D.

Lol agree with ktrain. I did so great in round one... Thought I had it made. It's round two that I don't talk about... Fighting my way back ... Man have I learned a ton in my R&D year LOL

After the ease of getting roots, the next step can be oh so humbling.

Great advice, fig-pop queen! I too always "Parafilm the tops".

But not with these cuttings, at this stage!
If you would try to Parafilm these, you'd probably break of the roots...

Just give them time to do their thing. IF you're going to kill some of these,
my bet is that you're going to kill them with water... Keep 'em on the dry side!
