Dog Pee Potatoes?

I have these potato plants and my 2 dogs are going pee on them. Would you eat the potatoes? I know some people actually use urine as a fertilizer. I guess it's high in nitrogen. If the fruit were above ground on the plant, I might eat the fruit or vegetables, but potatoes are down in the ground so I don't think I want to eat them. Is there something that will keep the dogs out of an area without putting up a fence?

Fake fire hydrants in different areas? lol

Wondering why the dogs choose those plants to pee on....when there are way better places. :)
Maybe get some plastic barrels and cut them in half?

I think he picks that spot because it's closest to the house and when I let them out, it's the first place he sees. He doesn't go there all the time and the other dog doesn't go in that spot so I don't know about the potatoes. I will probably just put something around it to keep him out. I don't really give those plants much attention. I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if they die.

LOL @ETXfigs I have tried three, or four times to respond to this thread, and each time I have failed, my sobriety just Escapes Me, and I Collapse into a ((puddle)) of laughter.

Millennial Gardener used urine as a fertilizer. It has NPK but lacks micro nutrients. That's his theory after testing it. So if used with some fish juice or worm castings it would be better than the results he got in an inert material.

I can assure you that your dog is not the only animal peeing on your plants. They're just the only ones you see.... during the day while you're there. :D

And they are potatoes... the part you eat is down a bit deeper

I trained my dog to pee and poop in the back corner that's covered with mulch. She does randomly go in other areas once in a while.

If the dog peed in the area once or twice, I'll probably eat it. But if it's frequent, I would compost or use the potatoes as seeds next year. Potatoes are low cost veggie so I wouldn't want to try and save for eating.

I don't really consider food as wasted if it's composted back into the garden. Although I do notice potatoes will keep trying to grow when I compost it.

I do use human pee for my garden but I only use it for trees, pepper plants, and other stuff that doesn't grow near or on the ground.

Our beloved Millennial Gardner cannot wipe the smile off his face with this video. An excellent treat for our summer gardens
