Constantine De Algerie

I have been debating on this one for some time now, couple seasons.
I just hadn't heard enough about it to make me click the buy button.

So now I will be paying attention to you and whoever else posts here with opinions.

I found myself skipping over all of the honey figs while perusing - not because I don’t think I’d like them, but because I realized I have so many already:
Peter’s Honey, Jurupa, Deanna, Yellow Long Neck, Hollier, Cavalier Bianco, and Alma
Only fruited Peter’s honey and Hollier so far but expect some of the others to give me a few next year to try also

I grew this fig for a few years and was underwhelmed. It is big and pretty. For me, the flavor of YLN was better. YLN had a more depth of flavor with that 'refreshing' quality that is hard to define/describe and CdA was lacking that in my climate. CdA was a straight middle-of-the-road honey fig with nothing to make it stand out other than its large size and appearance. My CdA was in a pot and just didn't survive the winter for some unknown reason. It was protected and watered correctly in storage. I can't pinpoint a specific reason why it died. But in all honesty, every year I lose something. I have more than 250 pots and I do my best to protect then, but sometimes living things fail to thrive. It happens...

Is it less cold-tolerant than other figs? I can't say that. Not enough information to form an opinion.
Would the flavor have become better? Most likely, yes. My tree was still young. I have learned from experience that the full expression of a variety's genetic potential isn't expressed until full maturity around 5 years. So I would have given it more time, had I not lost it.
Will I replace the lost tree? No. I have a lot of honey figs, and I mean a lot. At this point, I love what I have and would only add something that was unique or distinct in some way.
