Anyone growing this variety? I know it’s a very large honey fig, just wondering how cold hardy, vigorous, productive?
Not sure where your located or grow zone but do you wrap it for winter protection?I've got a nice CdA, young tree but hopefully it will fruit this coming season

That seems to be an issue all over...stinkin night creatures, thick as thieves they are.I got one growing...very rapid grower, but alas, fed the creatures of the night wtih that one this year.
no traps for me...That seems to be an issue all over...stinkin night creatures, thick as thieves they are.
You need boobie traps.![]()
I know you have Uncle Corey’s honey delight is that a good honey fig?I grew this fig for a few years and was underwhelmed. It is big and pretty. For me, the flavor of YLN was better. YLN had a more depth of flavor with that 'refreshing' quality that is hard to define/describe and CdA was lacking that in my climate. CdA was a straight middle-of-the-road honey fig with nothing to make it stand out other than its large size and appearance. My CdA was in a pot and just didn't survive the winter for some unknown reason. It was protected and watered correctly in storage. I can't pinpoint a specific reason why it died. But in all honesty, every year I lose something. I have more than 250 pots and I do my best to protect then, but sometimes living things fail to thrive. It happens...
Is it less cold-tolerant than other figs? I can't say that. Not enough information to form an opinion.
Would the flavor have become better? Most likely, yes. My tree was still young. I have learned from experience that the full expression of a variety's genetic potential isn't expressed until full maturity around 5 years. So I would have given it more time, had I not lost it.
Will I replace the lost tree? No. I have a lot of honey figs, and I mean a lot. At this point, I love what I have and would only add something that was unique or distinct in some way.
What are whopper! I have a 1st leaf tree setting figs and hopefully some caprifigs, from a tree I'm trialing, next season.Rather than another CdA post I’ll put this photo here. I believe it was pollinated as it’s double the size of last year.View attachment 12413
Do you have RGR/Yellow Long Neck too? I’m interested in how similar/different it is from it/them.I've got a three yr old tree. It produces a well for me the figs are large and tasty. I'm in 8b/9a. It puts on a lot of wood each season. It is a keeper for me.
