Welcome... everyone!

Hello. Thanks for having me.
A brief intro about myself and the fig obsession I’ve developed:
I’m in Louisiana, and got very interested in the fig varieties released (official and unofficial releases) by the LSU Ag department. I had only ever heard of LSU Gold and LSU purple, until I started looking into those varieties. When I learned about all of the others, I made it a mission to collect as many as possible to put in my yard. I have found many of the others, but a search for DC2 led me to this forum.
After meeting another fig enthusiast, who was kind enough to let me taste several non-LSU varieties at his place, I have decided I need to expand my collection to include lots of other varieties.
I hope to learn as much as possible about keeping my trees heathy and any history on the different fig varieties out there.

What part of Louisiana? DC-2 and DC-6 are not to hard to find. DC-1 and DC-7 are not easy to find. DC-7 is a Caprifig. I believe DC-1 is a smyrna type. Which may be why we don't hear much about it.

Good introduction and glad you’re here. I too wish to collect most of the LSU varieties. Although something named after a dead cat is a little bit strange….😂🤣

If there’s any of the LSU varieties you’re after, I may be able to help. I don’t have all, but I have several.
Do you have any of the other DC figs? I may have an extra DC-6 also. Both trees free. But you have to pick them up. Will check the collection in the morning and let you know. Well sir about to sit down with the wife and watch a movie. Be back on later tonight. :)

No. I have none of the DC varieties. I have Gold, Purple, Hollier, Tiger, O’Rourke, Improved Celeste, Red, Strawberry, Scott’s Yellow, Scott’s Black, Thibodeaux, Champagne, and White Honey. I know some of them are likely mislabeled as LSU varieties, but I’m ok with that. St. Gabriel is high on my list also, but I have to wait a little before shelling that kind of money for one. I also have an unhealthy obsession with persimmons and pawpaws, haha. If you’re interested in either of those, I can help out.

WOW Welcome to FigFanatic.com I have wished to get to know you, and now we share this wonderful platform. We have the best membership online. Now it's made even better by your presence here.

Nice LSU collection! You are missing the DC figs and the T's. So many LSU figs out there.

Welcome to FigFanatic. You'll fit right in around here with your unhealthy obsessions! 🙂 The more the merrier!

We can always use another pawpaw/persimmon addict around here. What are some varieties that you are growing of either pawpaw or persimmon? I've been looking for 275-48 (Lehman's Delight) pawpaw with direct provenance back to Jerry.

Although you clearly have way more LSU fig varieties than me 😂, I definitely can get you some cuttings this winter of varieties you might want to try. Can PM to discuss
