Yes but unless something happens you will have them every year now. It's an investment for the future. That's how I justify it anyway.Since I'm just re-starting my fig collection, and growing mainly from cuttings (and, to confess, killing some of them) we have gotten only a few figs this year... ...so my husband likes to say that, with the amount of time, supplies, and labor I put into it, the price of EACH fig is now close to $200
It's a labor of love though - priceless![]()

Sounds great! I spent an hour in a cheese shop once down in this little town bisbee, az, gosh i had a great time, she had cheese, crackers, jams, and allot to talk about. We have one here in Stuart’s Draft, it’s about 15 min ride from my house. They have unique foods there.
I once tried (as in tasted) Meyer lemons and can’t eat any other type since. Those damn Meyers are only in season in winter and spring. I want to grow one myself to bridge the gap. I have a feeling I know how that will go.I tried growing lemons once. In the end given everything I put into trying to grow them I probably spent over $100 for every lemon I actually picked![]()
It says 'Product of Turkiya' ... some mystical country from where figs command a high premium. What kind of fig is $3 per fig ? Geez
There is a place in Toronto that used to sell Uzbek Torpeda melons, which are some of the juiciest, sweetest, and most fragrant melons in existence. I recently asked the owner if they would be bringing more of those this year. He said no, that just the shipping cost to bring them here from Uzbekistan nowadays was about $25 Canadian per kilo. Each melon is about 5-6kg.The figs are free, the $3 each is from the cost of gas to drive them to the store…..![]()
