UNBELIEVABLE! Root a Banana in a glass of Coca Cola?

Now I’m getting other selections for lemons, oranges and other fruit rooted in cocoa cola. Maybe I should try fig cuttings in cocoa cola. Go to YouTube, in the search type rooting fruit in cocoa cola and see what results you get.

It's funny as I see these posts regularly on social media however for the most part this is false. Please give it a try and report back any success you have though ;) Commercial banana species for fresh markets are propagated by divisions or tissue culture of the meristematic tissue. There are other banana species such as Musa velutina (Pink Banana) which can be grown from seed however the fruit is almost all seed so not enjoyable to consume. We grow this species as an ornamental because its pink flowers are striking in summer/fall.

We have two rare short cycle sweet banana trees we hope fruit next year. It will be interesting if we can get bananas in VA. They are overwintering in 15gal pots in the greenhouse. Cold has done some leaf damage but the stalks are still in great shape. If it gets really cold we wil frost blanket them.

Can you share the variety name?

I always thought the southern favorite was Mountain Dew. I once heard it called southern champagne.
Lol....everywhere I go all I hear people down here order is coke, now I know when they say coke sometimes they don't mean coca cola.
They say coke but that can mean any flavor of soft drink...so then the waitress asks. Craziness.

They did not, but were looking like they wanted too.
I will say as far as gran nain goes, it pups like crazy....the viente cohol...not a single one all summer out of either tree.
I found that odd.
Are they just going to be one and done banana trees? Lol

Did you take the pups off the gran nain?
My understanding is pups prevent or delay fruiting.
As far as one and done my research says all bananas are one and done. You just use pups for the next years plants.

I did actually, I gifted the pups to people.
As far as my one and done reference, I meant that viente cohol makes no pups...I just get one year and it's done.
But yes... technically they are one and done.
I need it to pup though. Lol

@ ktrain and SpiritFarmVa, please keep us informed of that variety. I am very curious about it. How tall does it get and how long the from take to ripen(from flower to fruit)??
