Hello hello figfanatic friends: here sharing my latest deep dive into indoor growing: pest and insect management. Please know I am not a professional, and you should do your own research before using any of the products I mention. I want to share my observations over the past almost couple of years growing figs indoors. I went from 1 indoor fig tree (my indoor angelito) to now ~50 trees from March 2024 to Nov 2025. It's been an incredible and super rewarding experience. It's great for people who already have fig trees outdoors to be able to compliment what they do with some indoor trees, but I think the real value lies with the people who do not have outdoor space. They can benefit the ways we do from growing figs: physically, mentally and spiritually. We can help the world be a better place by letting folks who do not have outdoor space know they can grow figs indoors.

Now to share my most horrifying topic: pests and insects. I absolutely HATE them. So you can say I am pretty obsessed with ensuring my ~50 fig trees do not allow for unacceptable pest and insect populations. I use everything from synthetic to organic chemicals all the way to predatory pests/insects to kill the ones trying to eat my trees. I have been working with these chemicals and predatory pests/insects for years, and I share a bunch of that history and how I currently manage my indoor setup in this video I just released linked above.

I am also adding some photos and a list of what I use below.

You need some kind of magnification. I use a digital microscope: Beaverlab M2 400x

Thank you for sharing all this great information and the YouTube videos. I am on a budget and have been using what I have on hand to keep insects at bay. I have Gnatrol, Bonide sulfur, and Neem oil. The fig trees were sprayed with sulfur about a week before I brought them indoors. Then when I brought them in, I gave them a strong dose of Gnatrol. Since they have been indoors for a few weeks, I have given them more Gnatrol and sprayed them with a little Neem oil. I also have a few jumping spiders, and some kind of insect that looks like a predator so I haven't killed it. It looks like the one in your video that you said kills other insects. I haven't had a big problem with insects but I am thinking about taking them outside and spraying them again with the Bonide sulfur. I will check out the products that you recommend. Thanks for sharing. Here is a pic of my little buddy (jumping spider) I think he is a good predator. I may look for some more of them outside and bring them in.
