So, I don’t know if anyone else has fruited Galicia Negra in ground in zone 7a, but I proved it’s possible this year. This is from a tree in its second leaf. It was planted in ground in the late Summer of 2024 and rooted in late Spring 2024. I did this as an experiment as I knew how late it was. The fruit is deformed - it was the first and only fig from this tree so far. I pinched it. It ripened on October 29th.IMG_0368.jpegIMG_0365.jpegIMG_0367.jpegIMG_0363.jpeg

This past year I tried to root a few cuttings even grafted one on Euclid Unk but all failed. At this point it’s just too late for my liking.

I've read some really good reviews about this variety, so I got a cutting and rooted it in early March. The tree grew very nicely, but set figs way, way too late, even compared to CDDs. I am a little concerned, but let's see how it does next season. I am very excited about this one.
