Florea 2025

I am happy to have this fig variety in my collection.
I pecking 3 Florea figs today, they were all real treat after long waiting for first ripen fig off this season.
Quite a few figlets dropped as we had cold spring, and started fertilizing quite late.
Starting with about 18 breba on this tree I end up with 6 figs. Here are 3 from today.
They were delicious with sweet creamy test, but I could taste the breba in them.
I almost forgot to mention, the leaf that the figs are placed on is not Florea leaf❗️I just needed some contrast, but the leaves on Florea are quite small.
My husband and I enjoyed all three of them 😋
Soon to ripen Blue Celeste unk, and Pingo De Mel.

I had my third Florea today . Overall I have mixed feelings. Taste was ok , this one was better than the previous 2 and also bigger (24 grs) . Flavour wise sweet , figgy but not particularly exciting. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high. Will probably keep the tree to graft better varieties in the future .IMG_8222.jpegIMG_8219.jpeg

Florea can be good if you let it ripen really well, then it acquires dark sugar/caramel notes. That said, there is a matter of personal taste when it comes to figs. Some people love honey/sugar figs, some don't and find them bland. You also have to consider the earliness of this fig, too. While earliness is a great trait of this fig, earliness often comes at the expense of flavor development. There are always trade-offs.

You did better job at ripening it then I did.
Your Florea does look like it tasted better then you described.
There are 3 more on my tree, I will let the shrivel for few more days.

Those look really good to me! I like Florea. I like it that it is reliably early and produces well. I think it is a good start to the season and a harbinger of more good figs to come!

@Moonlight I am not sure weather we rooted a Floria this year or not, Lord knows we had a lot of cuttings of this variety, and spread them all over our new membership. I May myself have underrated this early fig in my home Orchard

They definitely taste way better ripened very well. I had some pretty good ones last year. My tree got hit by ambrosia beetles this year, so I’ll have to replace it eventually.

I will keep them longer these next ones hoping they don’t get eaten by the competition. I can’t even bag them has they are in tight clusters which makes it hard to protect them.
